Barclays Private Equity provides Buyout and Infrastructure capabilities.

Our Buyout business is one of the most experienced and successful mid-market private equity investors in Western Europe, and has invested in over 350 businesses since its formation in 1979. We provide equity finance to privately-owned businesses and place a strong emphasis on acting as a strategic partner alongside management teams, working together to build and realise shareholder value. We cap investments at €200m per transaction, with enterprise value typically up to €500m. Our investment capital comes from a range of institutional investors, as well as from Barclays Capital.

The Infrastructure business manages investments in social infrastructure projects sponsored by the Government under the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) and Public Private Partnership (PPP) programmes. To date, we have raised over £1 billion under management across five funds and invested in over 190 projects throughout Europe. We focus on primary (new build) and operating projects across school, hospital, local authority and government accommodation sectors. Income is received on an availability basis under a government-backed covenant.
